The 20-year-old academy graduate has yet to make a Betfred Super League appearance in 2018 but head coach Rick Stone is expecting big things from him.
“Sam offered a lot last year when he played,” Stone said. “He played a few games the year before and he’s improved his physicality this year.
“He’ll make a bit of a difference when he plays and hopefully the fans will see a new and improved Sam Wood.
“He’s knocking on the door. He’s around about the mark and he’s had a knee injury which put him back a little bit but he’s trained really well.”
Wood, who scored six tries in nine appearances in 2017, said: “I’ve been really enjoying my time at Huddersfield so I’m happy to commit myself and move forward.”
Wood is the fourth Huddersfield player to sign a new deal since the start of the season, following in the footsteps of forwards Oliver Roberts, Sebastine Ikahihifo and Paul Clough.
